CONCERT PERFORMANCES: The Eisenhower Dance Ensemble, a professional contemporary dance company, has performed works by internationally recognized choreographers including David Parsons, Stephen Koester, Mitchell Rose, Mel Wong, Pascal Rioult, Bill Evans, Mark Dendy, Douglas Nielsen, Lila York, Demetrius Klein, Colin Connor, Billy Siegenfeld and artistic director, Laurie Eisenhower among others. Consequently, concert repertory expresses a diverse range of artistic viewpoints from virtuosic movement pieces to innovative hilarity and soulful introspection. Moreover, EDE repertory utilizes a broad spectrum of contemporary, classical, and original musical scores. Age-appropriate programming and repertory selections can be designed for particular audiences. The following programs are available for concert performance:

Repertory Evening: Approximately 2 hours in length with an intermission, this concert program features contemporary dance selections from EDE's varied repertory. Now available for touring.

"Dances from the Heart of Rock and Roll": Experience the best of contemporary dance with the soulful and upbeat music of Rock and Roll. From drama to comedy to pure virtuosic movement, you won't want to miss this sensational event! This heartfelt tribute, choreographed by Laurie Eisenhower, features music by Bob Dylan, Van Morrison and Bonnie Raitt, among others. Join EDE for an exhilarating evening of dance and music that will have you "rockin" in your seats! Now available for touring.

"Motown in Motion": The Motor City's premier dance company celebrates the music that made Motown famous in a razzle-dazzle evening of dance and music! Playful, humorous, and wonderfully theatrical, the performers will have you dancing in your seats - and out into the streets! This concert program tours with Motown legends, "The Contours," or to recorded music. Now available for touring.

"A Soldier's Tale": EDE premiered Stravinsky's "A Soldier's Tale" with the Detroit Chamber Winds & Strings for the Great Lakes Chamber Music Festival in June 2003. This 30-35 minute multi-media work would appear in the second half of the concert program with the first half including 2-3 repertory works by Eisenhower Dance Ensemble. "A Soldier's Tale," choreographed by Bill DeYoung tours with live musical accompaniment provided by the Detroit Chamber Winds & Strings or to taped music. Now available for touring.

"Laugh Tracks": This evening of comedy in dance primarily includes works by Laurie Eisenhower, well known for her inventive and humorous style. This concert program provides a rare and ingenious blend of contemporary dance with humor of significant variety designed to tickle the funnybone. Now available for touring.

"KIDS 'N MOTION" & "HEALTHY KIDS" (LECTURE DEMONSTRATIONS): EDE presents an exciting, athletic, and informative dance presentation for all ages (50 minutes). Through the use of audience participation, entertaining repertory excerpts, and informative narration, company members inspire students about learning, creating, and enjoying dance.

MINI-MOTOWN IN MOTION: Especially designed for schoolchildren, this scaled-down version of EDE's lavish production, Motown in Motion, is a fast-paced and lively presentation. Through narration, performance and audience interaction, the program teaches students about the life of a professional dancer, the elements of dance, and the history of Motown.

EDUCATIONAL RESIDENCIES: Eisenhower Dance Ensemble can be contracted for residencies lasting one to six weeks. Residencies can include creative dance workshops, lecture demonstrations, master classes, performances, and classroom visitations for participation and discussion. Programs are tailored to meet requirements of the Michigan Content Standards and Benchmarks for Dance Education as well as the size and needs of each school or facility.

MASTER CLASSES and WORKSHOPS: All EDE dancers are qualified instructors and available to teach all levels of technique (i.e. ballet, modern, jazz, tap) and choreography classes. Creative Movement for Children, one of EDE's most popular classes, focuses on teaching the basic elements of dance (shape, level, direction, speed) while at the same time developing the child's individual creative and imaginative skills. For professional track dancers, EDE offers master classes in ballet, modern, and jazz techniques.

CLASSROOM VISITATIONS (following lec-dems): Since lecture demonstrations often spark a variety of questions, the dancers visit classrooms to interact with children for further dance education. These 20-minute sessions can involve discussion and/or movement activities.

CHOREOGRAPHY: Artistic Director, Laurie Eisenhower accepts commissions to set her choreography on other companies or pre-professional dance programs.

COMPANY PERSONNEL:

Technical Rider

The following technical information is presented as a general overview; however, Eisenhower Dance Ensemble can be flexible in order to accommodate the needs of each presenter. The specifications for the stage and lighting will enhance the overall performance quality but are not requirements.

The stage: Proscenium stage or other performing space, approximately 40' wide by 25' deep. The floor should be resilient with a smooth surface covered by vinyl dance flooring. Crossover space is preferred but not necessary.

Technical requirements: For concert performances, performing space should have white cyclorama, black scrim, black legs creating four wings on each side, theater lighting capabilities including side lights, washes, and two overhead specials. EDE will provide presenter with detailed lighting and hanging plots. The company will need approximately two hours to load in, five hours to hang and focus, and three hours for technical rehearsal. Preferably the technical rehearsal occurs the day before the performance(s).

Sound: The Company travels with recorded music in CD format. EDE requests the presenter equip the performance space with an appropriate sound system. The speakers should be sufficient for the house and include two on-stage monitors. In addition, EDE requests one wireless, handheld microphone.

Crew: Eisenhower Dance Ensemble travels with a Technical Director who will serve as the lighting director during the run of the show. The presenter should provide the following crew: 4 people for load-in, 4 people for run of show (sound, lights, 2 grips), 4 people for strike and load-out.

Dressing Rooms: Two separate dressing rooms with counters, mirrors, sinks, toilets and showers.

Hospitality: The Company requests non-carbonated bottled water, juice, yogurt, fruit and deli tray on day of technical rehearsal. Bottled water is requested for day of show.
